Over the past 24 years, Mr. Thomas E. Underwood has been in the human service field helping people with challenges within their lives.  Mr. Underwood fell in love with working with others and has a passion for putting smiles on those in stressful situations.
In 2003, Mr. Underwood received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Simmons College in Boston, MA and jumped right into counseling as a Mobile Therapist.  In this role, he realized that perfection within a household is in the view of the clients he served. He learned to treat every person as an induvial with care, honesty and dedication for each person in their family.  Mr. Underwood continued his career as the Deputy Director of the Juvenile Drug Court Program in the Family Court of Rhode Island. During his ten-year tenure, his passion grew for those who needed guidance and focus.  Regardless of each family’s challenge, their home was the foundation of serenity.
In addition to being a lifelong social worker, Mr. Underwood was the founder of Team Providence Athletics, a non-profit athletic program, within the state of Rhode Island. This program allowed student-athletes the opportunity to engage in activities through athletics and social activities as an instrument to enhance and build quality leaders by emphasizing education, dedication and determination within each student-athlete.  Additionally, Mr. Underwood was been a championship middle school and high school coach in football and basketball. His skills of team work, leadership, teaching, guidance and dealing with tough situations, provides him a unique perspective on the world and those around him.  Mr. Underwood transitioned to Huntersville, NC in 2013 where he became the Student Assistance Counselor for the North Learning Community in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and the Athletic Director of Hopewell High School.  In 2017, Mr. Underwood was hired as Davidson Day School’s School Counselor and Assistant Athletic Director. While in these roles, Mr. Underwood became familiar with Huntersville, Cornelius, Mooresville, and Lake Norman areas. He also built meaningful relationships with the Lake community and will bring his experiences of making families happy and whole, to you and your family. His passion and dedication will always be helping and assisting; and excited about continuing his passion to with your goals and needs.
Mr. Underwood loves watching his Lakers play, playing fantasy football, but more than anything, spending time building amazing memories his family and friends.
Other than time with family and friends, Mr. Underwood’s spare time is filled with volunteer coaching at Davidson Day School, helping LKN Outlaws, Inc. and the West Elmwood Intruders Alumni Association, an athletic non-profit organization he co-founded to assist the student- athletes in his hometown of Providence, RI.
