ABOUT THOMAS E. UNDERWOOD
For over 25 years, Mr. Thomas E. Underwood has been in the human services field helping people overcome challenges within their lives. Mr. Underwood fell in love with serving others and has a passion for putting smiles on the faces of those in stressful situations. This experience allows Mr. Underwood to be remarkably suited to understanding the stress a client goes through when purchasing or selling real estate. Mr. Underwood has taken his years of helping others in stressful times, as well as, serving families and students in the venue of education to further assist his clients in the real estate industry. This experience allows Mr. Underwood the advantage of understanding how to mitigate many of the stressors of the real estate transaction and ways in which he can reduce some of the chaos of real estate industry changes. In 2003, Mr. Underwood received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Simmons College in Boston, MA and jumped right into counseling as a Mobile Therapist. In this role, he realized that perfection within a household is in the view of the clients he served. He learned to treat every person as an individual with care, honesty, and dedication to each member of their family. In addition to being a lifelong social worker and helper, Mr. Underwood was the founder of Team Providence Athletics, a non-profit athletic program, within the state of Rhode Island. This program allowed student-athletes the opportunity to engage in activities through athletics and social activities as an instrument to enhance and build quality leaders by emphasizing education, dedication, and determination within each student-athlete. Mr. Underwood relocated to Huntersville, NC in 2013 where he became the Student Assistance Counselor for the North Learning Community in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and the Athletic Director of Hopewell High School. In 2017, Mr. Underwood was hired as Davidson Day School’s first School Counselor and Assistant Athletic Director. While in these roles, Mr. Underwood built meaningful relationships within the Davidson school community and made amazing friends. His passion and dedication will always be helping and assisting which excites Mr. Underwood about continuing his passion with his future clients and families in the real estate industry. During the COVID pandemic, Mr. Underwood began his successful transition into real estate as an Associate Broker with the same beliefs and desires; to assist those in potentially stressful situations. His patience, diligence, ability to listen, and communicate has set him apart. Mr. Underwood quickly gained experience in the Lake Norman area but stretched his service area from the lake to university communities and from Wadesboro to Rockingham, North Carolina. Mr. Underwood’s knowledge of real estate continues to grow and has had properties featured in Charlotte’s Luxury Home Magazine and the Charlotte Business Journal. Additionally, he has been awarded Top Selling Agent, Top Listing Agent, and Top Agent in Total Volume, which are accomplishments that he believes are attributed to the trusting relationships he has built by showing he cares about each family or client he assists. Mr. Underwood loves watching his Lakers play, playing fantasy football, but more than anything, spending time building incredible memories with his family and friends. In addition, he spends most of his free time following his son around and cheering while he participates in playing basketball and lacrosse on numerous teams.
